Tarots  and  Cartomancies

The Tarots are cards whose symbols allow to interpret the universal laws that have been always ruling human beings. They're in fact a true philosophic forge and contain -like a secret book- the ancient sciences of the priests. Although marginal transformations have occurred through the years they still hold those fundamental truths that make them always actual.

The tarot deck consists of 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana that represent the World of the Causes and 56 Minor Arcana that represent the World of Effects.

The origin of the tarot is very controversial. They've also been attributed-among the others-to the Ancient Egyptian because of the discovery of 78 hieroglyphics in the Alexandria's library that burnt in the famous fire. We know for sure that they were present in the XIII and XIV Century in Italy at the courts of two noble and powerful Families, the "Estensi" in Ferrara and the "Visconti" in Milan. With the passing years these cards spread in every social class and became the popular game of the Tarots.

The fascination of these mysterious cards is kept alive with their use in the Cartomancy to investigate the past, to understand the present and to guess the future.

The Tarots come in hundreds of varieties and shapes (the smallest is half inch tall and the biggest is 7 1/2 inches tall), some of them are even decorated in gold, but they all have one thing in common regardless of their different origins and cultures: the deck consists of the same 78 cards.

Nowadays they are a "working tool" for psychic readers and fortune tellers and a fun game to play among friends, but most of all they're collected by many many people all over the world.

Il MeneghelloThis phenomenon is kept alive by the wonderful illustrations of the Tarot cards by many artists, among the others are famous the versions of Guttuso, Dali`, Mantegna.
