The Tarots are cards that come out of their symbolism the key to interpreting the universal laws that have always governed Man. In fact they are a true philosophical forge and contain, as in a sacred book, the very ancient priestly sciences and, although undergoing the transformations, albeit marginal, of time, they preserve all those fundamental truths that make them always current.
Their deck consists of 78 cards called Blades, of which 22 are the Major Arcana or Triumphs that represent the World of Causes and 56 Minor Arcana that represent the World of Effects.
The origin of the Tarot is still the cause of endless controversies. They were also attributed to the ancient Egyptians as there were traces of 78 hieroglyphics in the Library of Alexandria in Egypt destroyed by the well-known fire, but certainly appeared in the XIII and XIVth Century at the Este courts in Ferrara and, later, of the Visconti in Milan. With time, they then spread to the lower classes to become the popular Tarot Game.
The fascination of these mysterious figures is made alive by their use in Cartomancy to investigate in the Paste, to understand the Presentand to predict the Future.
There are many types, even decorated in pure gold, of many different sizes, from the smallest 1 cm high to the largest 40 cm high; they come from all parts of the world, and, despite the different cultures, they are strictly the same 78 cards.
Nowadays they are work tools for Magicians and Fortune Tellers, of pleasure for an evening with friends, but above all they are sought after by many collectors scattered all over the World.
The phenomenon is given by the excellent quality of the products that bear the signatures of so many Artists, from Mantegna to Guttuso and Dali, to mention the most famous, but in the last few years many others have ventured into research to arrive at the execution of beautiful cards: Amerigo Folchi, Ernesto Solari, Enrico Prometti, Pier Canosa, Maurizio Bonora, Gianfranco Goberti, Margherita Marino, Giuseppe Billoni and many, many Others.
A very big thank you to Prof. Mauro Capitani, to Il Meneghello of Osvaldo Menegazzi, to the editions of Lo Scarabeo and above all thanks to the editions Il Solleone of our dear unforgotten Friend and Mentor VITO ARIENTI, "The Master of the Tarot" who calls himself: "A lively and stimulating presence in the publishing world of Cartagiocophilia".
